Galaxy A17 5G Debuts with AI & OIS Camera

India – Samsung, the country is largest consumer electronics brand has today announced the launch of the Galaxy A17 5G, its most affordable AI-powered smartphone in the Galaxy A series. Designed to bring flagship innovations to a wider audience, the device enters the market as a key contender for the upcoming festive season.

Design and Build

Measuring just 7.5mm in thickness, the Galaxy A17 5G is the slimmest smartphone in its segment. Weighing only 192 grams, it is engineered for comfortable one-handed use. It builds upon the strong foundation of its predecessor, the Galaxy A16 5G, which ranks among Samsung is best-selling devices in India.

The phone features a durable build, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and retaining an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.

AI and Software Features

Democratizing mobile AI, the Galaxy A17 5G introduces Circle to Search with Google, allowing users to search for images, text or music with a simple gesture. It also debuts Gemini Live, enabling real-time, visual conversational interactions with AI to assist with everyday tasks.

In a first for the Galaxy lineup, the device includes an on-device Voice Mail feature. Developed specifically for the Indian market by local engineers, this feature improves the calling experience by letting callers leave a message when the user is unavailable.

The phone runs One UI 7 out of the box and sets a new industry benchmark by promising 6 generations of Android upgrades and 6 years of security updates.

The Galaxy A17 5G sports a segment-leading 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, designed to deliver vibrant visuals even under bright outdoor conditions.

For photography, it is equipped with a versatile triple-lens camera system headlined by a 50MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Marketed as the "No-Shake Cam," this technology ensures blur-free photos and videos in challenging conditions. It is complemented by a 5MP ultra-wide lens for landscapes and a dedicated macro lens for close-up shots.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a 5nm Exynos 1330 processor, balancing speed with power efficiency. It houses a substantial 5000mAh battery, supporting extended sessions of browsing, gaming and video streaming. When it is time to recharge, the device supports 25W fast charging.

The Galaxy A17 5G will be available starting today across retail stores, Samsung Exclusive Stores, Samsung.com and other online platforms. It comes in three colors- Blue, Grey and Black. The device also supports expandable storage via microSD card up to 2TB.
